SUMMARY:Assessing Wildfire Hazards in the Home Ignition Zone
DTSTART:20101108T050000Z
DTEND:20101109T050000Z
DESCRIPTION:Wildfires are a problem in virtually every part of the US
and there are many steps that can be taken to reduce losses. This 2-da
y seminar will help you to identify hazards and reduce risks in the ho
me ignition zone before a wildfire starts. Wildland fire agencies have
largely been unable to reduce wildland/urban interface destruction th
rough traditional fire response procedures. Recent research has lead t
o a greater understanding of how wildland fires ignite homes. By apply
ing new knowledge of how wildland/urban interface fires occur and by u
sing new approaches\, future wildland/urban interface fire disasters c
 an be significantly reduced.
